Hola,

Economy is like a pendulum.no matter whether its in the mean position or median.it needs to come back to rest position at some point of time.its just and matter of time and it requires a lot of patience.

To get an insight about whats recession and how does it matter to you…take a sneek peek at the following posts in my sister blog.

So how did these IT companies evolve…?

Until mid 80’s and the early 90’s most of the documentation and back end office work in most of the industries was manual.once the power of the silicon chips was unleashed these industries began to relish and rejoice the fruits of the computer revolution by leveraging the IT cost benefits. Those were the days when the IT bandwagon had just begun.while most of the smaller companies in the developed nations were able to shift their gears to the IT lane.(they were small and needed less manpower to help them in their transition.)most of the bigger names found it uneconomical as it would require to train huge manpower in relatively newer technologies and it would involve lot of cost.but they were determined to get into the IT boom as they felt that if they don’t catch up with it at the right time.pretty soon they are going to pack up or give up to their competitors.they were looking for alternative cheaper options.probably cheap labour I guess…!!!.In those days and even now cheap labour is synonymous to India and China.since china wasn’t much of English speaking nation it wasn’t able to leverage much of the IT outsourcing boom which people talk about these days.

So where there is demand the supply keeps building up as long as there is no dearth of resources.that is what made India the back office of the world and led to the evolution of many IT companies with global presence .

Hola amigos(hi friends),

It has been really long that I last posted in this blog. It was partly because of the lack of focus after being stung by the lethargy bug and partly due to the confidentiality agreement that I signed with my company. So from now on I don’t want to speak about any company specific policies or its internal strategies rather I would speak about the IT industry as a whole and the ramifications on this industry due to the global economic slowdown (or the unfortunately famous noun called recession). Ok having established my stance, in the past 6 months from the day I started posting on this blog I received many mails and comments. Most of them with the same query. “I—— from ——college completed my degree on so and so date .I was given my offer letter on so and so date .can you please predict my joining date” I never replied to most of those questions .because I really don’t know the answer. Meanwhile some of them received their joining dates, some were hoping to get them soon and few others have actually lost their hopes and are in utter despair. Amid the growing concerns and apprehensions the satyam fiasco acted as a catalyst to the already distressed student community who were eagerly awaiting for their joining dates in turn creating more panic among them. While most of the top tier IT companies are honoring the on campus offers made to the students, the second rung companies are either deferring the joining dates or terminating the offers they actually made. How does the failure of lehman brothers or merger of bank of America or an acquisition of one company by the other affect an IT industry…??And how do these consequences have an effect on my joining date…??how is my career going to shape up amid such chaos…?? These are some of the question that have been eluding many of the soon to be IT professionals.

Let me answer them for you in my subsequent posts.

Ciya soon.

Adios.

Hi guys….finally herez the summary of the week so far…..

day 0.1 (note: this day is not included in the 23 days schedule of the ILP)

the hall was jam packed.everyone was excited.

this is the induction day.It was arranged in the Indian Medical Association Auditorium.we were introduced to ILP programme.we were shown a few TCS videos(one was a 2 minute one and the second one was “the “keepers of the flame” a 1 hour movie).you will really enjoy them.they will make you proud that you are part of the TCS family.

there will be document verification on the same day and if you fail to submit any of the documents you will be given a time period of 3 days to submit them.the lunch was good and in the afternoon session we had a presentation about tcs values and other stuff.overall the day was good

day 0.2 (this day is also not included in the 23day schedule)

The day started off with the pre-test.guys if you want to write the exam well, plz do read the MIT material that the TCS ppl sent us.the marks obtained in the pre-test will be taken as the criteria for making batches.

then the day continued with HDFC bank account opening.By afternoon the batches were made and we were informed that the accommodation would be reshuffled depending on the batch.

day 1, day 2, day 3 , day 4 , day 5, day 6

it started off well with the orientation session.the biggest difference between the 2 month ILP and the 23 days ILP is that “emphasis on self-study”.previously they used to teach you in the training sessions but now you need to study them on your own.

totally you have five evaluations and you need to score an aggregate of 55 percent.

we started with the module called programming concepts.for this u need to do programming in a language called scheme.this language is easy to learn as well as easy to work on.you wont be using this language anywhere other than during ur ILP period.u just use this because this helps the user to lay more emphasis on logic building rather than learning the language.

u need to learn everything by urself and you need to complete the set of assignments before the evaluations and you will find yourself working late nights for this.we used to stay in the training center till 1030(that’s the time till which the labs are oper here.) .but in other ILP centers the labs will be open 24 hrs.be prepared for the 5 hr sleep…

we just completed our first evaluation this friday and cannot comment on that until i get my results.

for the second module we need to work in groups on a case study……and it starts from monday.

food is the biggest problem over here as ppl here have tiffins for their dinner and we are forced to survive on that.there’s no other go.

saturday’s and sundays are off but you will be loaded with some work or the other and you will be spending your time in labs even on those days…..

signing off for now….will be bak with more updates…

Ritz.

weekends aren’t the same these days…..

the training is really hectic…..have been working from 10 to 7 even on saturdays and sundays….

was busy with the assignments….really tired

will sure update this space whenever i find sme time….

Ritz

MY TRAINING HAS JUST BEGUN…..

WILL KEEP U UPDATED ON THE DAY TO DAY EVENTS SOON….

PROBABLY I WILL KEEP UPDATING THE BLOG AT THE WEEK END THAT IS ON EVERY SATURDAY.

rITZ

hardly 9 hours to go.

we received the schedule for the first two days.they were distributed in our hostels.we are asked to gather at the Indian medical association auditorium sharply at 8:30 for the induction programme.

we are being provided the transportation from our hostels….thank god…!!

the first day seems to frivolous not much technical stuff…

the second day we gotta write a pretest of 2 and half hour duration…:((

lets see how the day turns to be….!!!

“tomorrow never dies” this title seems to sound apt at this moment….

lookin forward for tomorrow…

Ritz.

I am kidding rt…!!! i know….i know….

i am no moron…:)

few days back (almost 15-20 days)I was browsing through the various communities on the net and found many links, resources and references pertaining to the pre ILP preparation stuff.they were random links, rather confusing and substantially absurd.

here are the links that the TCS ppl actually suggest you to have a look at before you attend the ILP programme.

RESOURCES

I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT IT IS NO ROCKET SCIENCE.THE FIRST LECTURE GIVES US IDEA ABOUT HOW THE ACTUAL COMPUTATION IS DONE IN A COMPUTER.IT POINTS OUT THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DECLARATIVE KNOWLEDGE AND IMPERATIVE KNOWLEDGE.

THE SECOND LECTURE DEMYSTIFIES THE ACTUAL COMPUTATIONAL PROCESS.IT SHOWS US HOW THE ACTUAL COMPUTATIONAL PROCESSES AND PROCEDURES ARE DONE USING A PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE.HERE THE PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE USED IS SCHEME.IT IS A LANGUAGE DEVELOPED BY THE RESEARCH STUDENTS AT MIT.IT IS A BIT SIMILAR TO ‘C’ EXCEPT  FOR THE SEMANTICS AND SYNTAX.

THE ABOVE LINKS WILL REDIRECT YOU TO PPT’S WHICH DWELL ON TOPICS LIKE BASICS OF COMPUTER HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE.(DAMN EASY I GUESS…!!!!)
